Greytown Racing Pigeon Club news

2017-03-15 06:04

DUE to many inquiries as to news of the club I have decided to put pen to paper and let you know what is happening in our world.

In January we were shocked and saddened by the news of the sudden death of Morgan Naicker of the formidable Naicker Bros team.

He was a club stalwart and at the time of his death had been the longest serving member of the Greytown Racing Pigeon Club.

He will be sorely missed as a member and most of all, as a friend.

Our condolences go out to his family.

On Friday we heard of the death of a former member and friend, Leon le Roux, after a long illness - a good fancier who had to retire from the sport due to illness. Once again our thoughts are with the family.

To those who asked about Attie Joubert, he is doing fine, going from strength to strength on a daily basis. Due to doctor's orders he had to put the sport on hold for a year or so, but we await his return with great anticipation.

At the moment the birds are heavily into the moult and are looking like ragbags, with feathers all over the place.

Once this is over we will start preparing for the racing season starting at the end of May. We don't know the race points yet but there will be two routes flown, namely North and West.

After the losses of the last couple of seasons we are hoping for better things this year.

I thank you for all the inquiries regarding pigeon news and I hope to put pen to paper more often.
