Greytown Racing Pigeon Club news

2017-06-14 06:02

WHAT a wind on Saturday, although the report we had from Winburg at 7.45 am said the weather was fine - just a slight wind.
It must have picked up on the way because the birds all came back from Pietermaritzburg way so they were blown past and had to work their way back.
As the velocities show we should have velocities in the 1600 mpm, but only clocked a 1270 mpm to the Naicker Bros after 7.45 am liberation. The brothers also claimed 3, 4 and 7 positions with RD Lofts filling 2, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 and Old Grizzle eating their dust at 12, 13 and 14 positions.
Of the 25 birds sent, 14 were clocked with some hopefully getting home in time for church on Sunday morning.

Only flying a small kit like we are, it is difficult to compete against the Maritzburg and Durban-Pinetown fanciers each flying their 20 to 30 teams. Hopefully next year we will have a larger complement with the return of those fanciers who were unable to compete this season.

Winburg results: Naicker Bros: 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 1271.901, 1197.458, 1136.775, 1116.725, 1045.679

RD Lofts: 2, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 1198.276, 1070.797,1010.570, 968.623, 929.373, 779.386

TR Tatham: 12, 13, 14, 771.282, 741.928, 725.369.

RD Lofts won the Blue cup. Good flying next week from Bloemfontein.
