Greytown Racing Pigeon Club news

SORRY about the lack of a report last week but because of the forecast of inclement weather, we decided to keep our birds at home rather than subject them to the trauma of ice and snow and lose some.

As it turned out, it was the right decision as I believe those fanciers who did send birds out, suffered losses.

Saturday’s race from Senekal saw perfect racing weather, especially for the Naicker Bros who once again swept the board.

Of the 13 birds clocked, all returned home to the Naicker Bros Loft. What a season they are having; it shows what dedication can do.

The Old Grizzles’ loft stood empty until Sunday when the birds started to drift in.

As I scratched my head and wondered why, I realised it was such a beautiful day the birds had decided to walk home!

Liberated at 8 am, the first bird was in the clock at 11.50, to record a velocity of 1 296 metres per minute to cover the 298 km.

RD Lofts then clocked the next five positions, then the Naicker Bros three more, RD Lofts two and the Naicker Bros the final two.

RESULTS:

Naicker Bros: 1st:1296.90; 7:1070.661; 8:1018.705; 9:941.271; 12;916.792; 13L913.151

RD Lofts: 2:1198.097; 3:1196.735; 4:1175.829; 5:1175.057; 6:1145.875; 10:940.747; 11:917.135

Next week is a 520 km flight from Kimberley, beware of the big hole. Good flying.
