Greytown Racing Pigeons Club

THE blustery conditions on Saturday wreaked havoc with racing pigeons liberated at 8 am from Senekal, some of which were blown off course as far as Pietermaritzburg.

The Naiker brothers had a bird return home late on Saturday with a note attached to its ring bearing a phone number.

The bird had landed in a Pietermaritzburg fanciers loft where it was kindly fed, watered and released to make its way home.

The Naiker brothers yet again proved their superiority by clocking their first pigeon at 11:56:37 to make a velocity of 1261.24 meters per minute.

Their birds then returned regularly until their final pigeon returned at 12:40:47 with a velocity of 1062.843 meters per minute.

RD Lofts also had a very good race, chasing the Naiker brothers all the way. Leon Potgieter had two birds back from his five, leaving the Old Grizzle to eat the dust again.

The results were as follows:

Naiker brothers: 1st 1261.224; 3rd 1208.126; 6th 1183.141; 7th 1182.516; 11th 1158.718; 13th 1062.845

RD Lofts: 2nd 1225.802; 4th 1207.777; 5th 1198.480; 9th 1177.670; 10th 1158.768; 12th 1083.068

L. Potgieter: 8th 1179.248; 14th 873.142

The next race is from Winburg with a distance of approximately 345 km.

With an 8 am liberation time, flying time is estimated at four to four and a half hours depending on the weather.

Until then good flying.
