GREYTOWN Secondary School is proud to announce that the dux winner, Nirvad Ramlakan, achieved seven distinctions and came first in the Umzinyathi District Municipality in the 2017 matric exams.

This was acknowledged at the matric top achievers function at the Durban ICC when Nirvad was presented with an award by the KZN Premier and KZN MEC for Education.

Nirvad’s seven distinctions are English HL: 87%, Afrikaans FAL: 91%, mathematics: 92%, life sciences: 95%, physical sciences: 95%, accounting: 93% and life orientation: 83%.

Nirvad also attended the vice- chancellor’s Top 100 applicants’ function at Wits University in August last year, where he accepted an offer to study medicine.

Other top achievers were Brandon Mabhunu who achieved six A’s: Zulu FAL: 91%, mathematics: 82%, life sciences: 94%, physical sciences: 89%, geography: 83% and life orientation 90%.

Kishala Somaru obtained four A’s: life sciences: 85%, accounting: 86%, business studies: 80% and life orientation: 93%.

Lusanda Ndabandaba also received four A’s: Zulu FAL: 91%; life sciences: 83%; accounting: 84% and life orientation: 83%.

Sibusile Nxumalo achieved three A’s: Zulu FAL: 91%; business studies: 85%; and life orientation: 87%. Sphesihle Mkhonto achieved three A’s: Zulu: 91% life sciences: 81% and life orientation: 92%.
