GREYTONIANS Fezeka Dlamini and Nomcebo Sithole, who are LETCEE volunteers, were awarded the title of best Smartstart coaches, being chosen out of 74 possible candidates, at a function held in Johannesburg last month.

The Smartstart franchise helps with child growth, targeting children aged three to four years old with the aim of providing fundamental early education.

When the dynamic duo of Dlamini and Sithole joined LETCEE as volunteers, they made a pledge to themselves to fly the LETCEE flag high, and have never looked back.

When the Smartstart concept was introduced to LETCEE Director Mary James, James employed Fezeka and Nomcebo, giving them the opportunity to run the project. They did just that, and are still driving it up to greater heights.

“Volunteering was not an easy job but, with passion and faith, everything went smoothly, said Nomcebo and Fezeka.

“We will continue to encourage all our SmartStarters to keep up the good work, teaching communities and parents to learn how to work in groups to provide sound early education learning through play for the children in their care,” they added. — Thabile Chonco.
