NELSON Mandela once said: "Education is the most powerful weapon that can change the world."

We at GSS take pride in empowering our future leaders - our children - through education. On 2 December the Greytown town hall came alive as we at Greytown Secondary School honoured our own stars, our pupils, who have shone the light of academic greatness throughout the year.

In addition to adding to the glitz and glamour of this prestigious event we welcomed the Moorad family and international celebrity "Mo Magic" as our guest of honour, who inspired and encouraged our pupils to achieve more and do more.

Furthermore, pupils who passed with a distinction were presented with an academic scholarship to the value of R2 000, which will cover school fees for one year. This is just one of the initiatives that GSS has embarked on to promote academic excellence.

The event ended on a high as each of the Ramlakan children scooped the highest aggregate in each phase respectively.

Thasveer Ramlakan was awarded the highest in GET phase, Nirvad the highest in FET phase and Kiara Ramlakan was awarded the dux award for 2015.

The staff and governing body wishes all recipients the best in their future endeavours and anticipate great accomplishments from these pupils.
