AMID the humdrum of everyday living, we need to remind ourselves of all the things for which we can be thankful.

Family, friends and good health (and even a good education) are too often taken for granted, while physical comforts — our homes, our clothes, our toys — we tend to overlook as just a backdrop to our lives. Nevertheless, we should remind ourselves to be thankful, if we are privileged enough to find them “unremarkable”.

So, to show thankfulness, our school celebrated gratitude week during the last week of the second term.

In the Primary School, our Grade 4s learned how to bake — and bake they did — providing the tasty cakes for the gratitude tea on the last day of the term. Our parents were invited to enjoy the cakes (or “cake-in-a-mug”) with a cup of tea or coffee and could read the letters and cards their children wrote to them to say “thank you” for all that they provide — love, understanding and the opportunity to attend an excellent school.

We hope that all our scholars and parents are enjoying the holiday, and we are thankful that they have the opportunity to be together as families.

A big thank you goes to all pupils and parents from the high school and the primary school who contributed to the Children-helping-Children “soup and beanie” collection. We made more than 100 packets for needy children, and our thanks go to Mrs Hoffmann, Pastor Risch and our pupils who went to Pastor Nathan’s church to hand over the gifts and spend some time with the children yesterday. #bringthejoy. — Supplied.
