ANOTHER first for our Mudman participants. No fewer than six of our teams and two individuals participated in the Richmond Mudman (the fourth event in the Mudman Series. HMB 1 (Lila de Wet, Luke Pellow-Jarman and Erin Whittle) came first, followed by HMB 2 (third), HMB 3 (fourth), HMB 6 (seventh), HMB 5 (eighth) and HMB 4 (10th).

Dieter Volker came sixth in his individual category and we congratulate Elisabeth Tönsing on completing her first Mudman in the individual category.

On the sporting front, Cebo Mzila was selected goalie for the U12 Umzinyathi hockey team, and Jonathan Königkrämer as defender for the U13 team. Both will play in the upcoming inter-districts hockey tournament from 13 to 15 May.

On the academic front, Simon Röhrs was awarded certificates of High Distinction for English and of Distinction in Mathematics for the 2015 International Bench-marking Tests, run by the IEB for the Australian Council for Educational Research. Joshua Zick and Dieter Lucht received certificates of Distinction for Mathematics and English respectively. Our school, and other South African and international schools use these tests to ensure that our academic standards are maintained against an international bench-mark.

Last Sunday, Hermannsburg held its first fun ride for motorbikes and quad bikes - the organisers were so delighted with the success they have decided to make it an annual even. With more than 120 riders taking part, those who were not there missed out on a great day’s riding on tracks crossing private land around the school.
Track designers Mark and Phillip Gathmann, and team of helpers, pulled out all the stops to make a track that suited everyone. Thank you to sponsors, parents, teachers and pupils, and not least, the riders, who worked together to make the day a great success.
