PROUD moms and dads looked on as Grade 1 and Grade 2 girls played their first hockey matches last Tuesday, even though we had some Grade 1 pupils playing in the Grade 2 division.

They were very excited about playing and did well in their first encounters against Wembley B (0-0), Wembley A (0-4), Wartburg B (0-1), Greytown (0-4) and New Hanover (0-2).

In the high school, our boys played hockey against Grace College and Jordan Pope scored three goals and Sven Klar one to secure the 4-2 win. The girls’ first team played Wembley (0-2), Greytown (0-1) and Domino Servite (0-0). Playing against Girls’ High, the U14 drew 0-0, the U16 lost 0-5 and the second team lost 0-6.
The U13 team played at Treverton, against Treverton (0-0), Clifton (0-4) and Winterton (1-1), and although tired by back-to-back games, the girls played well.

The U16 rugby team is doing well, and won two of three games as they played against Wartburg 1 (7-14), Wartburg 2 (12-0) and Grace College (38-0) on the weekend.

Meanwhile, preparations for our 160th jubilee Schulfest are in full swing with many former pupils already booking into our school’s boarding establishment for a fun-filled weekend of camaraderie, food and trips down memory lane.

We still have a few spaces available for crafters who want to book stalls for the Schulfest craft market, but these are filling up fast so contact the school urgently to secure your spot - www.hermannsburg.co.za/schulfest
