SPIRITED flute solos, piano pieces, deep vocal solos and soulful duets, the six-strong “Bro-ties” male group and the Viva Voce girls’ choir were stunning opening acts from our school for the KwaZulu-Natal Youth Choir’s performance last Friday - our music department is clearly inspired.

A packed church hall was enthralled by the new youth choir programme, and it was a privilege to see Gérard’d du Toit and Tristan Hiestermann back in Hermannsburg, conducting the choir and dedicating various pieces to members of the Hermannsburg family.

Our primary school pupils attended the annual “Hooked on Books” presentation, kindly hosted by Wembley College last week, where they saw stories come off the pages and brought to life - and even participated in the process.

On the hockey front, our Grade 1 and 2 girls had a lovely friendly match against Greytown Junior on Thursday, while our high-school boys played fast, physical games against DSS - the U15 team played well but ended 0-2 and the first team managed to hold on to win 2-1.

The rugby teams played at Waterfall, where the Open team were up against Grace College (7-22) and Wartburg 2 (0-35), while the U16 team played Wartburg 1 (0-35), Grace College (28-12) and Wartburg 2 (12-5).
