THE Grade 10 group arrived safely in Reutlingen on the return leg of the Germany exchange programme, and have enjoyed a long weekend with their host families.
In the course of the four weeks they will be in Germany, our pupils will be immersed in the German culture and language, and will visit many historic sites, universities, cultural events and spend time going to lessons in our partner school, Bildungszentrum-Nord (BZN). We wish them loads of fun as they learn about themselves and another country.

In hockey news, our combined U14 and U16 girls’ side won their match 2-1 last week against Epworth. The U13 girls played in Eston, winning two and drawing four games - Claremont (0-0), St John’s (0-0), Wykeham (0-0), Ixopo (0-0), Wykeham (2-0) and St John’s (1-0). Rachel scored all three goals, and the team is becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Our rugby boys enjoyed a spit braai with their coaches, parents and teachers and the boarders staying over the weekend.
Thanks to Mr and Mrs Karl Ortmann for sponsoring the meat and Mr Ruben Surendorff for preparing it. We were also glad that the players from Hermannsburg Combined School could join in - they have been training and playing Sevens rugby with our players as they get to know the game as part of our sports development programme.

In other sporting news, we are proud to announce that Brittany Uys, one of the athletes in the elite group of young athletes placed at various schools in KZN, who is being trained at Hermannsburg for high jump by Mr Martin Marx, has been included in the South African squad for the All African Championships which will be held in Durban from 22 June to 26 June. This is part of a long-term development programme to attract top athletes and coaches to our school.
