Hermannsburg Happenings

2016-11-30 06:01

BINOCULARS, check-list, field guide, sun block, hats - a number of our pupils and teachers braved an early start on Saturday to catch the proverbial early bird as they participated in the Birding Big Day, going far afield to identify as many species of our feathered friends as possible.

After spotting a multitude of birds, they came back happy, but tired having done their bit to contribute to the annual census of bird species.

Also on Saturday, the Grade R graduates were welcomed as prospective Grade 1 pupils for 2017 at the ABC Schützenfest, with a welcome message from Mrs Sonja Terry, HOD of the primary school, and a short presentation by this year’s Grade 1s.

On Sunday, our school family enjoyed the celebration of the first Sunday in Advent in the Hermannsburg church hall.

Our pupils - and old pupils - led the scripture readings while our choirs (school choir, Viva Voce girls’ Choir and the Bro-ties Boys’ Choir) as well as our school’s recorder ensemble complemented the congregation’s brass band at the service.

Thank you to all who contributed to make it a special occasion, and for the treats afterwards with the tea and coffee.
