AT the time of writing, our Grade 10s were about to leave for their four weeks in Germany, on the German leg of the Germany Exchange Programme - the best value-for-money exchange out there.
They will be hosted by their German partners and get to see many sights in Germany - we look forward to reporting on their experiences.
While our Grade 10s head northwards, our primary school and high school pupils are making full use of the opportunity to show off all they’ve learnt this year as they write their June examinations this week.

We continue to wish them sound memory and clear recall.

In hockey news, our teams have been busy over the past few weeks and, in the words of our sport co-ordinator, Mrs Debbie Walton, “sport has been amazing this term and the spirit in the hockey teams has brought everyone together, both in the boys’ and girls’ teams, with the players showing maturity and good spirit, helping out from one team to another as needed. Very proud of our pupils.”

The U10 girls played Wartburg (5-0) and New Hanover (1-2), and won all their matches against Lynford 1, Lynford 2, Treverton and New Hanover at a recent tournament.
Our U11s played against New Hanover (3-2) and Wartburg (4-0), while the U13 girls played intense matches (despite key players ill) against Greytown (0-1) and Wartburg (1-1); in a tournament at New Hanover they played Greytown (0-0), Lynford 2 (0-0), Lynford 1 (0-3) and Treverton 1 (0-2).

The U14 girls ended their match against Wartburg on 4-2, while the U16s scored three goals to end 3-0 (goals by Zenande Magubane, Awande Mbuli) against Wartburg. The 2nd team girls played Greytown (1-0) and Wartburg (0-2). against Greytown, our 1st team ended 0-5 and the U16 girls 0-1 after an early goal by Greytown, despite spending most of their time in the Greytown half.
The 2nd team won 1-0 against Greytown (Elisabeth Tönsing) and the U14 girls won 2-0.

On the boys’ side, our 1st team played against Alexandra High and won 3-1 (Jordan Pope scoring all 3 goals - well done Jordan), and drew 1-1 against Grace College (Kabelo Molefe), which means they only lost one match this season.
The U15 boys played Maritzburg College on astro (a new experience for the team), losing 0-3 before playing against Treverton on grass and winning 4-3 (Asanda Nzimande scoring 3 of the 4 goals).

We congratulate Awande Mbuli, who was selected to go through to the next round of district trials, and Julian Königkrämer, who was selected for the U12B KZN Inland boys’ hockey team.

Well done and thank you to all our hockey coaches and players - good luck for the last few games of the season.
