Hermannsburg happenings

2018-02-28 06:01

LAST week our swimmers took part in the Quadrangular gala, hosted by Wartburg. Our swimmers did us proud and, at the end, Greytown was fourth, Wartburg third, Hermannsburg second and Wembley first.

Hermannsburg’s Lila de Wet was the U16 girls’ champion and Michael Nell the U15 boys’ champion. Following the gala, along with swimmers from other schools, Hermannsburg swimmers were selected for the Umvoti Swimming Team, which will compete in the Co-Ed gala: Kei Blackburn, Siena Kimble, Sonja de Wet, Lila de Wet, Asanda Nzimande, Cebo Mzila, Deryn Currin, Erin Whittle, Michael Nell and Dieter Volker were selected. Angelika Meyer, Jarmin Claassen and Jonathan Königkrämer were selected as reserves.

Congratulations go to Awande Mbuli, who has been selected again for the Midlands Tennis Team — she will compete in the inter-provincial tournament next weekend.

On another swimming note, Hermannsburg hosted a very happy, successful Umvoti Gala for primary schools last Thursday. We congratulate New Hanover 1, who won the gala, and Wembley College 1, who were the runners-up. We congratulate all the swimmers and thank all the swimming coaches and teachers who accompanied the teams, Mrs Walton and our sport staff for the efficient running of the event, and our parents who so loyally support their children and our school (and supply tasty refreshments too).
