OUR German visitors have spent little over a week in South Africa so far, but have already packed a wealth of experiences into that time.

Among these was travelling to the Tugela mouth with Hermannsburg’s Grade 10s, as this is one of our largest rivers.

The group learnt more about the environment from the talks that were given to them there, and were fortunate to see some special game.

After that, they travelled to uMtunzini, taking a long walk through the mangroves and doing the Rafia Palm trail (sadly, they did not see the Palm Nut Vulture), before continuing on to White Elephant Lodge, arriving in a typical African thunderstorm.

A visit to the Elephant Museum and a talk on the work done to reintroduce elephants into the area was followed by quizzes and other games.

On Sunday, the whole group experienced the exhilaration of a canopy tour in the Drakensberg.

We look forward to our Easter holiday, which starts this week, and wish all our pupils (including our German guests) and teachers, along with all their families, a restful, relaxing time together and a safe return at the start of the new term in April.
