WE congratulate Liam Uys on being selected to represent the U12 Umzinyathi hockey team, which will play its first tournament on May 19 and 20.

In other hockey news, U11 hockey girls played against Pelham A (0-1), Pelham B (1-0), New Hanover (0-0) and Wartburg (0-0) at Wembley last week.

Playing against Wartburg, our U14 girls won 1-0 (goal by Brielle Swanlow), the U16 girls won 3-0 (goals by Kei Blackburn, Amy Whittle, Zenande Magubane), with the first team ending 0-1 in a match cut short early in the second half due to poor visibility.

The girls’ first team went on to win 1-0 against Grace College later in the week (goal by Awande Mbuli).

Our hockey boys’ team played against Wartburg (0-4).

Preparations for the Greytown Mountain Bike Classic are nearing completion.

Under the guidance of Mrs Penny Waller, Hermannsburg is in charge of the night race as well as participating and helping in other areas.

We wish our pupils, teachers and parents participating in and helping in the weekend’s events every success.

At the same time, preparations for our annual Schulfest (school festival) continue apace — we will celebrate 162 years of HMB from Friday, May 18 to Sunday, May 20, with the main activities on Saturday.

We wish our Grade 10s sound memory and clear recall for their half-year examinations, which start on Friday and which lead up to their departure for Germany, where they will spend four weeks with their guest families.
