‘KAILAGER’ brings back fond memories for many Hermannsburg Old Scholars who have enjoyed the annual camp at Port Edward on the South Coast, and have gone from being children attending the camp to helpers running the camp. The Kailager is run under the auspices of the Lutheran Church - ELCSA(N-T) — and is a fun, rustic week on the beach with beach-games, swimming, campfire sing-a-longs and other fun activities for children from the ages of eight and 12 years of age. While there are many opportunities to have fun, make new friends and enjoy new experiences, there is also fellowship and a sound message to take home as well. This year, Hermannsburg’s Akhiwe Sidu, Sithenkosi Ngidi, Keryn du Preez, Mhleli Ngobese (whose little brother Melizwi was unfortunately still too young this year) and Emma Reibeling (in the photograph), as well as Matteo and Jona Risch enjoyed the week in the winter sun. They were joined by Hermannsburg Old Scholars Siggi Engelbrecht (née Worthmann), Heinz Engelbrecht, Hermann Düvel and René Risch (who is also our school pastor). We look forward to the KT-Camp for teenagers and confirmands, which will also be held this July, and which our school’s confirmands will be attending.
