THIS week we welcomed everyone back from the mid-term break, which gave us all a chance to get our second wind for the remainder of this term — especially the Grade 12s, who start their trial examinations next week and are busy finishing off sections of work and revising in preparation.

During this term, our Grade 10, 11 and 12 classes will write the Deutsche Sprachdiplom (DSD — German Language Diploma) at both levels of this international qualification, as well as completing the oral examinations for the DSD. Our musicians are preparing for their Royal Schools and IEB music practical examinations, the first of which will be after the HMB Eisteddfod on Thursday, August 23.

In the meantime, our Olympiade team continues to train hard for the week-long Sport Olympiade of the German schools in southern Africa, which starts on September 16 in Windhoek, Namibia. Inter-house tennis, league tennis, athletics meetings (Quad, Co-ed, Umvoti), Primary School hockey and soccer matches are among the other sport events on the calendar this term.

Our primary school pupils are, however, far more excited about Robin and the Hoodies — the school play for which they have been diligently rehearsing.

Many moms (and dads) probably already know various lines off by heart, as they help their children memorise their parts, and we thank them for their contributions.

The performance is scheduled for August 24 in the church hall in Hermannsburg, starting at 6.30 pm, and promises to be another entertaining performance by our budding young actors.
