GALES of laughter swept the audience as Robin and the Hoodies’ King John, Maid Marion, Aunty and the unforgettable ‘skunk patrol’, along with all the other actors from the Primary School and Kindergarten, flawlessly delivered witty repartee and “punny” one-liners during the two performances.

In the end, King Richard arrived to pardon everyone (except, perhaps, the unfortunate Sheriff of Nottingham, who was unfortunately “mangled” by the royal torturers new invention).

All was well that ended well, however, and the pupils and teachers of our Primary School and Kindergarten are heartily congratulated on a delightful evening’s entertainment!

There was a fair bit of love, along with a fair share of deuce and advantage, in Hermannsburg as the pupils — and their teachers — took to the courts last week in a fiercely contested inter-house tennis tournament.

In the end, Bushbuck carried the day and the two sport houses now stand even on house points with Reedbuck’s lead in cultural, academic and sporting endeavours now being equalled.

The Hermannsburg Eisteddfod is an opportunity for young musicians of all ages to perform in front of an external adjudicator and to receive constructive advice for the upcoming IEB and Royal Schools examinations.

This year our adjudicator was the current conductor of the Drakondale Girls’ Choir, Mrs Ronél Perks, a respected vocalist, cellist, music teacher and choral conductor. Our Primary and High School pupils distinguished themselves as follows — Kayla Shearing (A, recorder), Carolina Hoffmann (A, piano), Mischa Chetty (A, recorder), Stephanie Meyer (A, vocal), Ntandoyenkosi Mpungose (A, vocal), Sinqobile Mngoma (A++, vocal), Clara Kohrs (A+, vocal), Angelika Meyer (A+, vocal), Lydia Köhne (A, vocal), Ntokozo Zondi (C+, vocal) and Nonjabulo Khoza (B, vocal).
