WITH the Sport Olympiad team away in Windhoek last week, the rest of the high school undertook a variety of activities.

Just like the team during its trip to Namibia, our remaining high school pupils presented individual orals on various places and sights to see in Namibia, before taking a morning to explore the intricacies of making mosaics — crosses, hearts and even the school badge were created. Thank you to Mr Tracey, who took time out to instruct and guide our scholars.

Time was also spent clearing the verges of the roads in a 2 km radius from the school — many bags of refuse were collected during this exercise.

Our thanks go to KwaSizabantu for hosting our pupils for a morning and giving them a guided tour of the bottling plant, greenhouses and auditorium.

Meanwhile, in Windhoek, Jarmin Claassen won a bronze medal in the 50 m backstroke, Johanna Fuchs was awarded silver in long jump and bronze in the 100 m sprint, and Asanda Nzimande brought home bronze in high jump.

We congratulate our team for its spirit of good sportsmanship.

The Sport Olympiad closing ceremony was held on Thursday, September 20, after which the team embarked on a short tour of Namibia on their return route to South Africa.

We look forward to hearing all their news and more results from the Olympiad after they return on Thursday, September 27.

We wish everyone a relaxing holiday and safe travels for those on the road, and a safe return to school on October 1 — when the Grade 11s will be setting off on their leadership camp.

October 6 sees the morning fun-run-walk at Hermannsburg, and in the evening there will be an Oktoberfest in Hermannsburg — tickets are available through the oktoberfest@eule.co.za website.
