CONGRATULATIONS go to Hermannsburg’s Kirsten Rabe, Benjamin Rabe, Paul Tönsing, Luka Poser, Cuan Malyon and Romy Prigge, who were all inducted as members of the Brass Band Association of the ELCSA(N-T), the Lutheran church to which Hermannsburg is affiliated, during the church service last Sunday.
The association’s council members spent the weekend at the school under the guidance of their chairperson Siegfried Prigge.
Following a formal meeting on Saturday, they spent time practising before enjoying a convivial evening at the school’s Lapha. The Sunday service was enlivened by their accompaniment and recital, and we thank them for their contribution - we trust that they enjoyed their stay in Hermannsburg and that they will return to delight us with their talent again.
The inter-house swimming gala, held under sunny skies last Friday, was an opportunity not only for the swimmers to excel, but also for the cheerleaders and supporters to let loose with their enthusiasm. Reedbuck was a convincing winner in the swimming, and Bushbuck impressed with the spirit of the support - congratulations to both houses on winning the Swimming Trophy and Spirit Cup respectively. More awards will honour the individual swimmers at the awards ceremony on Friday morning, February 15.
Our cricketers have been busy too this past week.
On Saturday, the first XI played against Treverton, ending their innings on 108 all out in 21 overs; Treverton replied with 109 for 4 in 18 overs to win by 6 wickets. U15 team played Domino Servite, scoring 53 for 7 in 20 overs to which Domino Servite replied with 28 all out (Zail Rubieparsad 4/3, Neo Blackburn 3/2 and Lukhanyo Ndlangisa 3/2) to give Hermannsburg the win. We congratulate all our cricketers on the good spirit with which they play their matches.
