“Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time”.

Last weekend, our Nature Club (“Naturkunde und Wandern AG”) travelled to the Umlalazi Nature Reserve, Mtunzini, where they camped and hiked the Siyaya Trail.

They were privileged to see the palm-nut vulture (Gypohierax angolensis), encountered zebra at close quarters and they collected bags of litter in the Dune Forest to do their bit towards cleaning up our environment.

The group enjoyed camping in the forest, experiencing the richness of our natural heritage, and returned well-satisfied that our school’s appreciation of and care for nature could be tangibly expressed; they left nothing but footprints and took away only memories.

Our hockey players have enjoyed their season thus far. Our girls’ first team played Wembley College on astro — the first game on astro-turf this season — and drew the game 1-1 thanks to a smashing goal by Awande Mbuli. The enthusiasm and grit displayed by the whole team holds great promise for the future.
