IT’S back to school for our pupils and teachers and we look forward to welcoming them all back in Hermannsburg. As we change gears to bring our focus back to “learning mode”, we anticipate a term filled with various activities besides learning new skills and gathering knowledge in the academic lessons. After the always hotly-contested inter-house athletics on the first weekend back, our high school will reprise the well-received “Creative Magic — Cabaret and Musical Enchantments” in Harburg on Friday, August 2 while our Primary School teachers attend the biennial ‘Proudly Primary’ conference with many other teachers from across KZN. The HMB Eisteddfod (open to participation from other schools) promises to be a highlight, and our grades 10 and 12 pupils will write the Deutsche Sprachdiplom (DSD) examinations — passing which will give them an internationally recognised language qualification over and above their matric certificates. We wish our Grade 12s well as they prepare for their trial examinations, which they will write towards the end of the term, and all our other scholars as they learn to master new material during their lessons. The term will be rounded off with the annual HMB Golf Day on September 20 and 21 at St Cathryn’s Golf Estate. — Supplied.
