WE congratulate all our pupils who wrote their Deutsches Sprachdiplom or German language diploma (DSD) examinations earlier this year. The DSD follows the European language framework, and there are two levels: the DSD I and the DSD II (the latter satisfying the language proficiency requirements of German universities, for those wanting to study abroad).Sven Meyer, Paul Tönsing, Philip Lütge and Kirsten Rabe all achieved the DSD II. Luka Poser, Sonja de Wet, Stephanie Meyer, Nina Schmidt, Monique Jonker, Jonathan Königkrämer, Mufhiwa Magoro, Jarmin Claassen, Kei Blackburn, Michael Nell, Ivan Mohlala, Cuan Malyon, Salmaan Ebrahim and Lara Knoetze achieved the DSD I. Those who wrote the DSD I this year will have the opportunity to write the DSD II in 2020. Our school has been assisting some scholars from other schools to write and achieve the DSD, and five of those scholars achieved their DSD I. Our thanks go to our dedicated and capable German language department for these results. This week, High School lessons are taking place Piet Opperman’s farm, ‘Darkest Africa’. Scholars go back to basics, cooking their own food and living without cellphones, while their daily lessons range from ethics and the challenges our world faces, to first aid and river studies. We thank Mr Opperman for once again allowing our school to make use of his farm. – Supplied.
