WE live in a world of colour and shape, and so our theme for the next two weeks is recognising and identifying colours and patterns.
Knowing one’s colours helps to create the cognitive link between visual clues and words, and we help our Little Oaks to understand that dark green and light green are both greens, for example, and that mixing two colours together will give us a new colour.

Through patterns we understand sequencing and also learn prediction, supporting not only learning in mathematics but also contributing to broader social development. For example, predicting (or knowing) what comes next after waking up in the morning (getting dressed) helps one feel more secure in one’s environment - knowing the days of the week, or the months of the year is a more advanced sequence, and is equally important.
