THE annual Germany Exchange Programme broadens our pupils’ horizons by immersing them in the language and culture of Germany in an everyday environment with host families.

The 2001 Grade 10 class was the first to travel to Europe in an exchange with a class from Germany, and the German pupils spent time with Hermannsburg families by way of reciprocation.

Not only did the Grade 10s benefit from the exchange programme, last Thursday the Kindergarten was visited by this year's exchange pupils.

They spent the morning with us, colouring Easter eggs, folding wonderful butterflies out of origami paper and playing games like the traditional egg race on the lawn.

We could use our German as we spoke and communicated with our visitors. They also surprised us with new toys, board games and puzzles they brought us from Germany - what a wonderful day.
