WHAT an adventure, travelling through Africa for a whole year in a camping truck. Which is exactly what Germans Katrin and Stefan Waldenburg, and their five children did. For the past year their home was a 1978 Mercedes-Benz LA 911 Rundhaube (because there were seven of them in the truck throughout their journey, they called it “Snow White”). When they stopped off at our school for a couple of days, camping under the trees above the sports fields, the Little Oaks used the opportunity to take a closer look. They were impressed that seven people could cook, eat, sleep, shower and even go to the toilet in the truck, and Mr and Mrs Waldenburg had many questions to answer as the inquiring minds of our Little Oaks explored every aspect of such an undertaking. Four of the Waldenburg children joined lessons in the primary school and the high school, while the youngest daughter joined the Little Oaks at the Kindergarten for a couple of days. We wish the Waldenburgs a safe journey home and hope they will visit Africa and Hermannsburg again.
