OUR “Little Oaks” recently visited Mr Wally Gevers on his farm. They had already had lessons about farm animals and why we need them, but it was quite another experience to see them live. Some of the Little Oaks had to get used to big dogs wandering around at first, as they got off the bus, but they were soon at ease with having them around. The group split up into three and went to see all the farm animals. There were mommy pigs with their little piglets, bulls, cows and calves, cats, dogs, sheep, and chickens laying eggs. All too soon it was time to say farewell and to board the bus again — we would all have loved to stay longer! The visit to the farm was tremendous fun and everyone learned a lot. A big thank you goes to Uncle Wally, and especially to Uncle Leon for showing us around and for answering all our questions.
