POEMS can be fun — using poetry in the classroom may seem daunting at first, but our Grade 9 pupils had a vision to try out their German poem Hoppe Hoppe Reiter with our Little Oaks, getting a feel for German poetry and enjoyment in the way it sounds.

Hoppe Hoppe Reiter is a lap rhyme where you put the child on your knees and they pretend they’re riding a horse. Once the Grade 9s were comfortable with the rhyme, they joined our pupils in the kindergarten, where they sat the little pupils on their knees and bounced them up and down in time to the rhyme. Our Little Oaks thought it was hilarious and fun, fun, fun.Thank you, Grade 9s.
