Hermannsburg Little Oaks Oracle

2019-06-19 06:02

THERE was great excitement among our Little Oaks Grade R pupils as some of them came to school and couldn’t stop talking about voting. Others wanted to know more about voting, and so we built our own Kindergarten voting station where they learned about the voting process, that they each have an opinion, and that the vote stands. They voted on what kind of story they would have for story time; we could have pretended to vote for a president, but story time is much more meaningful to them at their age and the choice affects them in a real way. In our class vote, they could choose between a puppet-show, a fairy tale, a story about animals and a movie. Our Little Oaks learned what it means to vote and, equally important, that it sometimes doesn’t turn out their way. They were so excited about the whole process that in the end they were all happy about the outcome, and we had an enjoyable puppet-show. — Supplied.
