ONE of our three new pilot projects in the Kindergarten is movement and language, which creates opportunities to expand each child’s linguistic and body language, as well as his or her repertoire of movement.

Language and movement are very important for children in gaining knowledge and in expressing and communicating with each other and the world. The main focus on a movement-orientated language activity should be a stimulating environment, where the child can actively and simultaneously use body, movement, language and voice to get in contact with other children.

If a child performs slow or fast movements, for example, it will learn the terms “slow” and “fast” and will also be able to describe and articulate slow and fast movements. These activities awake the curiosity of the child and encourage the investigation of verbal expression; the child learns to act, but also to use words meaningfully.
