LAST Friday night the curators of the Hermannsburg Mission House Museum held the second annual “Night at the Museum”, providing a convivial opportunity for individuals and families to experience the museum’s history through various activities. The treasure hunt for the children, who had to look for various photographs of items from the museum and to find the actual item in the museum to receive rewards, was the source of much excitement. The adults soaked up the ambience of one of the first buildings at Hermannsburg (and the residence of many families since the 1850s, until it became a museum), playing friendly rounds of poker, skat or rummy and enjoying delicious soup. A big thank you to the people who donated towards the lovely supper, Glühwein and the prizes for the treasure hunt, and to Tante Inge von Fintel and Petra Middleton, our curators, for organising the evening. We can’t wait for “Night at the Museum 3”.Our U11 boys’ hockey team played in the first tournament of the season at Treverton, winning 3-0 against Oasis and drawing 1-1 with both Winterton and Treverton. We look foward to this weekend’s inter-house athletics meeting, with Bushbuck and Reedbuck vying to see who can do the best on track and field. We welcome Mr Siggi Prigge and his wife Romy to our Hermannsburg community - Mr Prigge will take up the duties of grounds manager from 1 August. As an Old Boy former parent and former trustee of the school Board, we trust he and his wife will soon feel at home and we look forward to working with him in our school.
