How to choose the right high school?

2018-07-25 06:01

PROSPECTIVE parents and old pupils are invited to hear from and meet with the principal of Hermannsburg School, Trevor Harbottle, who looks forward to connecting with you at the following venues:

? Greytown: Today, July 25: 6 pm at Greytown Country Club

? Howick: Friday, July 27: 6 pm at 24 the Hamlet, 14 Eridene Rd, Howick

As a principal, one of the questions I am often asked is: “How do I choose a high school for my child?”

My response is that not every school is right for every child, and so, as with every choice, one needs to first identify their own priorities, and then look for the school which best suits those needs. Once this is decided upon subsequent questions follow.

These questions include aspects such as boarding or day school; monastic or co-ed schooling; independent or government; CAPS, Cambridge or IEB; extra-mural proficiency such as sport or music.

One of the most important questions, which doesn’t fit into a neat box, but runs alongside all of these, is the question of faith and values.

At Hermannsburg we are proud to be an independent, co-ed, boarding school offering an IEB education upon the foundation of our Christian values with over 162 years of experience.

We believe that there is a school for everyone. Come and visit Hermannsburg, we may just be the school for you!
