Important notice to firearm licence holders

2016-03-16 06:00

FIREARM licence holders are required by law to renew their licence 90 days before the expiry date reflected on the licence.

Applications for renewal of a licence which has not expired will be accepted, with written reasons for the failure to submit timeously.

Please be informed that all firearm licence owners who renewed their licence in terms of the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000, and this has expired, are required to surrender their firearms or face prosecution.

At this stage no renewals of expired licences will be accepted.

Firearm licence holders who did not renew their licence and hold a green licence card in term of the old Arms and Ammunition Act 75 of 1969, remain lawful in terms of an Interim Court Order. Those who wish to renew and/or migrate to the Firearm Control Act 60/2000, may contact their local Designated Firearm Office for further inquiries.

For any further inquiries, contact your local DFO. Greytown residents may contact 033 413 9003 or 033 413 9067, during office hours.
