It’s raining ... again!

2018-02-14 06:01

SOMEWHERE along the line Greytown’s three-year drought no longer gets any attention from the powers that be.

As Cape Town hits the media headlines, nationally and internationally, the fact that our town’s residents have been coping amazingly well (except for the Jojo tank thieves) for the past three years on a daily rationed and limited water supply is just accepted by consumers and the officials.

So for the past week or so, what a pleasure to wake up in the morning to the actual sound of raindrops. Long may it last. The February total rainfall to date recorded by Murray Mason on the outskirts of Greytown is 55 mm, with 18 mm last week — more or less the same amount as recorded in the town itself. Then even more on Monday night in town — a further 19mm recorded!

Lake Merthley this week is 50,62% full. The forecast for the next week shows rain every day except today and Sunday, with the temperature dropping to 17°C next Wednesday … with rain!
