June Litterick will be missed

2018-11-14 06:01

“THE moving finger writes; and having writ moves on….”

June has moved on and in our sadness we know that none will forget the contribution she made to the people of Greytown and Umvoti.

A journalist with pride in her profession, June was a one-time town councillor who knew the ways of bureaucrats, and reported without fear or favour. A phone call from the editor of the Gazette brought a tingle to many in high office.

An honoured Rotarian of long standing, June contributed to many community upliftment projects, and is best remembered for her part in the development of the “Thorn Tree School” in Muden.

June had great foresight. In 2001 she was instrumental in establishing the Umvoti Aids Centre to deal with the Aids pandemic that was stalking our community, she remained a valued member of the board of the centre until her death.

Above all things June valued people, and the values of the good people were central to her being. The lattice work of good people she helped to build is the poorer for her passing.
