U13 HOCKEY

Eight girls represented the uMzinyathi hockey district at the Inland Hockey Tournament this past weekend. Yumna Hattia was selected as the U12 captain and Ezinhle Ximba was selected as the vice captain for the U13 team.

Thembekihle Khubeka, Yumna Hattia and Luleko Nala were selected as non-travelling reserves and Andiswa Myaka was selected for the U13 KZN Inland Team.

Congratulations to all the girls, Greytown Junior School is very proud of their achievements.

On Saturday, May 25, the U13 hockey girls took part in a triangular at New Hanover Primary. The girls played very well and showed great team work.

The results were as follows:

• Greytown Junior School vs New Hanover Primary — won 1-0

• Greytown Junior School vs Piet Retief Primary — won 7-0

U9 AND U10 HOCKEY

The U9 hockey girls played against a mixed Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3 Domino Servite side on Monday, 20 May. Greytown Junior School played well and won the game.

The U9 girls played a hockey match against Mooi River Primary and played well, beating them 3-1. Well done girls.

The U10 girls also played a match against Mooi River Primary. Getting off to a flying start, the girls scored three quick goals, showing off their hard work to get their positional play and hitting skills correct.

Mooi River Primary came back with a bang and made us work for the win, with the final score being 4-1 in Greytown Junior School’s favour.

MINI RUGBY

On Tuesday, May 21 Greytown Junior School hosted a mini rugby tournament. The Grade 1 side played well, winning both games.

The results were as follows:

• Greytown Junior School vs Kammaland Primary — won 25-0

• Greytown Junior School vs New Hanover Primary — won 15-5.

Our Grade 2 side also played very well, winning all three of their games.

The results were as follows:

• Greytown Junior School vs Kammaland Primary — won 35-0

• Greytown Junior School vs New Hanover Primary — won 10-5.

• Greytown Junior School vs Wembley College — won 15-5

Well done all the teams and players.

On Tuesday, May 21, the boys had a coaching/practice session with Kammaland Primary. Greytown Junior School won the game 25-5 against Kammaland Primary. They all learnt a lot.

A big thank you to Mrs Billinge for the refreshments.
