GIRLS MINI SOCCER

ON Tuesday, July 23, Greytown Junior School fielded two mini soccer sides and travelled to Treverton. The girls were very excited and played well, gaining much-needed experience.

THE SCORES WERE AS FOLLOWS:

Grade 1:

Greytown Junior School vs Cowan House B — won 2-0

Greytown Junior School vs Cowan House D — won 1-0

Greytown Junior School vs Treverton — draw 0-0

Grade 2:

Greytown Junior School vs Cowan House B — won 1-0

Greytown Junior School vs Mooi River — draw 0-0

Greytown Junior School vs St Greggs — lost 1-2

On Thursday, July 25 our U10 soccer girls travelled to Mooi River and played a match against Mooi River Primary. They were accompanied by their coach, Mr SJ Nel (Jnr), and Mrs Nel, their team manager.

The girls played extremely well. They were mostly playing on their side and won the match 3-0 against Mooi River Primary. Well done girls.

On Saturday, July 27, our U13 soccer girls travelled to Wartburg to participate in a tournament. The U13 side played four games. They lost one and drew three.

THE SCORES WERE AS FOLLOWS:

Greytown Junior School vs Ixopo — draw 1-1

Greytown Junior School vs Wykeham Collegiate A — lost 2-0

Greytown Junior School vs Wykeham Collegiate B draw 0-0

Greytown Junior School vs St John’s draw 0-0

On Saturday, July 27 our soccer girls and boys took part in a soccer tournament hosted by Wembley College.

The girls played very well and an improvement in their skills was noted.

THE RESULTS WERE AS FOLLOWS:

Girls U9

Greytown Junior School vs Wembley College — won 2-0

Greytown Junior School vs New Hanover — won 7-0

Girls U10

Greytown Junior School vs New Hanover — won 2-0

Greytown Junior School vs Wembley College — won 2-5.

Boys U11 and U13

The U11 and U13 soccer boys took part in a soccer tournament that was hosted by Wembley College.

The U11 boys played two matches against Wembley College; they drew one match 0-0 and the other they won 1-0.

The U13 boys played two matches against St David’s and Wembley College.

The match against St. David’s they won 1-0 and the match against Wembley College they lost 2-0.

The boys played very well, taking into consideration they had very little practice.
