THE karate team competed in the Meichi Gannen Junior Championship at Edumbe in the Zululand District on April 6.

All the hard work and dedication paid off as the team returned with three gold, two silver and five bronze medals.

Our champs in the Kataz category included Ntandoyenkosi Sikweqe (first), Andiswa Dlamini (second) and Phiwayinkosi Luvuno (third); in the Girls U12 category — Amanda Jali (first), Mbalenhle Dlamini (second) and Cebisile Nxumalo (third); in the Girls U14 category — Andiswa Dlamini (first) and in the Boys U11 category — Okuhle Dlamini (second) and Thelumusa Mzila (fourth).

All this would have not been possible had it not been for the hard work and dedication of Umvoti Aids Centre staff, Senpai Lungisani Mabaso, Senpai Kujabula Chonco and Sensei Sbonelo Mkhize as well as the generosity and kindness of our donours and sponsors Honchos, Pidelta (Pty) Ltd, Umvoti Fuel & Oil and Pannar Seed (Pty) Ltd.

The partnership between Umvoti Kyokushin-Kai Karate Association and Umvoti Aids Centre is yielding positive results and we require financial assistance to continue with this project.
