KZN Midlands Youth Choir to perform in Greytown

2017-03-08 06:02

THE well-known KZN Midlands Youth Choir will perform in Greytown on Thursday March 16, at Wembley College, which has five pupils who are members of this choir.

The concert will take place in Aloe Hall at 6.30pm. This will be its eighth performance at Wembley College.

The choir was established 10 years ago to develop the talent of the youth in the greater Pietermaritzburg and Midlands areas and to show the importance and the influence music has on the youth.

The choir has performed in many venues in South Africa as well as three international tours to Argentina, Germany and the United Kingdom, which included an invitation to perform at the Palace of Westminster during the celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s diamond jubilee in 2012.

The choir has again been invited to the eisteddfod to take place at Llangollen in Wales this year and have been asked to perform at two fringe concerts as well.

Last year a past KZN Midlands chorister, Noma Khumalo, was the overall winner of SA Idols Season 12 competition.

In Noma’s words: “I joined the KZN Midlands Youth Choir in high school, where I was given the platform to lead songs with other vocalists.”
