MONDAY November 20 marked World Children’s Day, and Letcee celebrated this annual event in style. This is a day created by Unicef to give children the opportunity to be heard, to feel loved and to celebrate their childhood.

In a report to the Greytown Gazette, Annika Hawyward (Letcee Operations and Marketing) said: “With the help of our faithful Friends of Letcee, we were able to have numerous celebrations on this special day.

“At the Izingane Zethu Centre in Greytown, we had a braai and party for the pre-schoolers. The excitement of the fun and wors rolls organised by Dulcie Jacobsz was a bit too much, and the little ones needed a nap before the party and treats could commence.

Thanks to Angie Wheeler and her knitting team, each child received a knitted teddy bear showing them how loved they are.

And what is a party without snacks - Shanrika Naidoo and her team donated lots of treats for every child and staff. We are so grateful for the continued support we receive from the greater Greytown community.

Our two mobile toy libraries went out to the most rural areas as usual, but on Monday they planned some extra fun and surprises.

When the children came to the play groups, they were greeted with balloons, posters and special activities. All of them said they had so much fun.

Letcee’s other four toy libraries in Eshane, Matimatolo, Mbuba and Njengabantu also had small celebrations marking this special day.

We wish to thank everyone for contributing to this special day, the children definitely felt loved. More than that, we are also grateful for the community members regularly donating to Letcee - clothing, recycling, food and toys make such a difference to the work we do.

Thank you.
