THE Wembley Duck Derby on 1 and 2 September has a great line-up of flea market stalls and entertainment. If it is food you are after join us on the Wembley sports fields on Friday and Saturday to enjoy a coffee and a wide range of food from Thai curries and stir fries to potjie kos and your favourite chip twister, spiralled potatoes will be on sale. The Catholic Church is selling breyani. Pizza, steak rolls, pancakes and potato wedges are also on sale this year at various stalls as well as lots of sweet treats.For the younger ones – the popular inflatables will take up one of the big fields.There is something for everyone this weekend and while you are shopping, there is entertainment happening. At 5pm on Friday Disproportionate Do-Gooders will open the evening’s events, followed by Die Rowers, Saarkie, the SA Irish Pipe Band, Rubber Duc and a repeat performance by Die Rowers.On Saturday the SA Irish Pipe Band will play at 1pm, followed by Die Rowers at 2pm. The Duck Drop will happen at 3pm. Disproportionate Do-Gooders will begin the evening performance at 5pm followed by Die Rowers, Pieter Smit, Short Straw and a repeat performance by Die Rowers at 9.30pm. There will be no alcohol sold at the school during these events, but you are welcome to bring your own along.Do come along and support Wembley College to celebrate the school’s 20th birthday.
