LOCAL government elections take place next Wednesday, 3 August. There are now 14 wards in Umvoti which are being contested by four parties - ANC, DA, EFF, IFP and a number of Independents. There are 90 voting stations throughout the municipality with 506 trained by IEC staff manning the stations which will open at 7am and close at 7pm. Voters will be given three ballot papers - yellow to vote for a political party to be counted for proportional representative councillors. Grey for your Ward Councillor and green to vote for a political party for representation on Umzinyathi District Council. Special votes will be carried out by the IEC on Monday and Tuesday - Greytown IEC head, Chris Naidoo told the Greytown Gazette that there were a total of 695 special votes registered for these elections - in the last election there had been 605.
