Make your mark on 3 August

2016-07-27 06:00

LOCAL government elections take place next Wednesday, 3 August. There are now 14 wards in Umvoti which are being contested by four parties - ANC, DA, EFF, IFP and a number of Independents.
There are 90 voting stations throughout the municipality with 506 trained by IEC staff manning the stations which will open at 7am and close at 7pm.

A more detailed report will be published to assist voters in next week’s Greytown Gazette. An early reminder – voters must vote at the station at which they are registered, they must produce a green ID document or temporary identification certificate or a Smartcard ID card.

Voters will be given three ballot papers - yellow to vote for a political party to be counted for proportional representative councillors. Grey for your Ward Councillor and green to vote for a political party for representation on Umzinyathi District Council.

Special votes will be carried out by the IEC on Monday and Tuesday - Greytown IEC head, Chris Naidoo told the Greytown Gazette that there were a total of 695 special votes registered for these elections - in the last election there had been 605.
