EMGAGA Primary School celebrated Mandela Day on a large scale when they returned to school for the third term.

Pupils performed, under the Mandela theme, group poetry, drama, storytelling, songs and Isicathamiya.

One pupil presented the Mandela defence speech made during the Rivonia trial.

Among the guests at the event were Induna Ntuli, officials from Pietermaritzburg, Hilton and Boscombe offices of Mondi, Department of Health, Umvoti Fire, and principals from neighbouring schools.

Screening tests were undertaken by Department of Health personnel and parents present took advantage of this service.

Mondi officials presented 34 pupils with uniforms, the community with three smokers as well as refreshments.

The school management team would like to thank Mondi for its support for the needy pupils, especially Mrs Nomonde Mhlongo of Mondi who initiated and facilitated the programme.
