ONE man died and five other people sustained injuries after a taxi and a light motor vehicle collided on Pietermaritzburg Road in Greytown on Monday, January 13. According to witnesses, the driver of the taxi lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on with a light motor vehicle. When they arrived on scene, responding paramedics from EMRS found a man trapped inside the car. A paramedic who was not authorised to talk to the press told the Greytown Gazette that the Jaws of Life were used to remove the trapped patient.“Five patients were transported to hospital, and three were critically injured. “One person died at the scene.”Colonel Nkosithule Mvundla from Greytown SAPS confirmed the incident.“Members of Greytown SAPS responded. A case of culpable homicide was opened,” he said.
