WITH the introduction of phase 2 of the Matimatolo housing project in December 1000 families in Wards 2 and 13b were given the good news that they will eventually have their own homes as the project is completed.

This project, which is one of the largest in Umvoti Municipality, will not only house 1000 families, it will create many job employment opportunities which directly translate to economic development

The introduction of the contractor was attended by over 1000 community members, led by Inkosi Cele at the launch in December.

In his address Umvoti Mayor, Cllr TC Ngubane commended Inkosi Cele on his co-operation and leadership throughout.

The project will be headed by Makhosi Nyoka, who in 2015, won the municipality Govan Mbeki housing award as the best Rural Housing Project in KwaZulu-Natal for the quality of houses that were built in phase one of the Matimatolo housing project.
