THE decisions that pupils make at school have a big impact on their lives, affecting not just their further education, training or employment, but also their social lives and finances.

A key function of Sisekelo High is to prepare pupils to transition successfully toward a future career path. This involves providing curriculum opportunities to build pupils general capabilities, support pupils interests and aspirations, and support them to make informed decisions about their subject choices and pathways.

Pupils are more engaged in education and highly motivated about their future when they have a clear understanding of themselves and how they might live and work when they leave school. And that is where the concept of career guidance comes in.

Matrics attended a career guidance workshop which was organised by the Department of Education at Greytown High. There were different professionals who gave advice about pursuing their careers. Pupils interacted with the different institutions, asking information pertaining to applications and different courses.

When pupils were done, they took a tour of Greytown Museum where they were welcomed by Mr Nzama, the museum curator, who taught them a lot about Greytown and it’s surroundings. Thereafter pupils enjoyed their meals in town and headed back home.
