Men’s tennis tourney a hit

2018-12-05 06:02

THE popular Roley Hill men’s doubles tournament was held on Sunday in ideal playing conditions.

After Saturday’s heat, the overcast skies were a welcome relief.

We hosted a field of 16 couples of which only four were local.

It was nice to see ex-Greytonians Leon and Ryan, and all our usual out-of-town players again.

Thanks to all those who helped make the day a success, Carol and her ladies for the lunch and tea eats, and to Mascor & Cenprop for its on-going sponsorship.

The trophy went to Mark Butlin and Brett Arnold.

We also had 16 lucky draw prizes which were donated by Technifibre, RTS, Organics for Africa, Rhino Charcoal, KPP, Link Seed, Mike Barrow, and Just Cheese.

There will be social tennis during the festive season and visitors are most welcome.

The tennis club committee wishes all tennis members and all the Greytown sports clubs a blessed Christmas and a happy and healthy 2019.

THE RESULTS:

A SECTION

Winners: Mark Butlin and Brett Arnold.

Runners-up: Ryan van der Merwe and Alex Kocheleff.

Most Deserving: Brett Shaw and Leon Vermeulen.

B SECTION

Winners: Tony le Roux and Desmond Mayne.

Runners-up: Clive and Kyle Edkins.

Most Deserving: Ashley and Bruce Cotterrell.
