Mental illness in the workplace

2018-09-12 06:01

ONE in four employees in South Africa have been diagnosed with depression.

With job shortages, a tight economy and everyday pressures, stress is a key factor in the workplace but often employees with depression don't know how or when to disclose their mental illness in the workplace.

Are employees aware of their mental health rights at work?

What should happen after an employee comes back from mental health treatment?

Join South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG)’s “Facebook Friday free online Q&A” to ask an expert lawyer and psychologist about mental health rights at work, how to cope with mental illness in the workplace, and where to go for help.

Starting the conversation about mental illness and encouraging people to ask questions helps to destigmatise mental health in our society, especially in the workplace.
